Members of the Missionary Benedictine Congregation of St. Ottilien, of which Christ the King Priory in Schuyler is an integral part, are engaged in various ministries in many countries of Africa, Asia, North and South America, and Europe.  The focus of our work has changed from the beginnings in 1884. Evangelization efforts in parts of the world where Christianity was unknown marked the early years of our Congregation. The later part of the 20th century, and certainly the present, have called for a shift in ministry. We are no longer in charge, we are working hand in hand with indigenous clergy and religious, helping to strengthen the roots of Christianity and to help those less fortunate through educational programs of various levels.

As Missionaries we go beyond meeting the basic needs.  Empowered by the Holy Spirit we live among the people, giving witness of Christ’s loving care, bringing the Good News of the Gospel and the teachings of the Church, celebrating the Sacraments with those who have embraced the faith, restoring hope in a broken world.
