The life of a monk is a balance of Ora (Prayer) et Labora (Work) lived in a community of Christian men seeking God and striving to live the Gospel according to the Rule of Saint Benedict.
PRAYER (Ora…)
Four times a day, we Benedictine Monks of Christ the King Priory gather in chapel in order to praise God for his creation, in order to give thanks, but also in order to lament and to present to God our needs and the needs of the world. We also celebrate the Eucharist daily. The prayer fo the Liturgy of the Hours finds its extension in all we do throughout the day — unceasing prayer. Guests and visitors are most welcome to join us for any of the prayer times and for the Eucharist!

WORK (…Labora)
Prayer – The primary work of a monk is to live a life of prayer, the Work of God (Opus Dei), as St. Benedict refers to it in the Rule. The monks gather four times a day for the Divine Office and daily Eucharist. We welcome all people to our prayer times and the monks gladly receive prayer requests and intentions. If you would like us to pray for you or offer a Mass for your intentions, e-mail us at monastery@benedictinemissionhouse.com .
Benedictine Mission House – One of the main apostolates of our monastery since its founding in 1935 has been raising awareness and funds for the work of Missionary Benedictine monks and sisters around the world. Christ the King Priory is the United States fundraising center of the international Missionary Benedictine Congregation. Through the generosity of our friends and benefactors, we are able to send all the funds we receive to support our missionary work in all parts of the globe. For more information about the projects we support or to join our mailing list, please contact Fr. Volker, Mission Procurator at FrVolker@benedictinemissionhouse.com .
Saint Benedict Center – In keeping with our desire to become a place of prayer and spiritual growth for all people and in the tradition of Benedictine hospitality, the monks of Schuyler opened a retreat center in 1997. The St. Benedict Center is also in part a gift and a symbol of gratitude to the Church in America for their generous support of our internation missions. For more information about retreats and programs at St. Benedict Center, e-mail us at retreats@stbenedictcenter.com .
El Puente (Benedictine Immigration Program) – The monks felt the call to respond to the needs, both practical and spiritual, of a growing Hispanic population in Schuyler and the surrounding community. El Puente places a particular focus on immigration issues, providing services and assistance to individuals and families in need. The Benedictine Immigration Program is a member of the Catholic Legal Immigration Network (CLINIC), an organization which works in collaboration with the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops to advocate improved immigration policies and practices. For more information contact Rudy Salazar, Board of Immigration Appeals Accredited Representative, at rsalazar@benedictinemissionhouse.com .

I love what you are doing. Keep up the good work. I look forward to seeing more.
