We had the pleasure of welcoming our confrere Abbot Primate Notker Wolf, O.S.B. to Schuyler for a visit this week.  Abbot Primate Notker was at Creighton University in Omaha on Monday to discuss the “Benedictine Mission in North Korea” as part of the Asian World Center’s Distinguished Lecture Series.  The Abbot Primate made a point to visit his fellow Missionary Benedictines before departing Nebraska for another speaking engagement in Milwaukee.   During a social with the monastic community Tuesday evening, Abbot Primate Notker updated us on daily life at Sant’ Anselmo, Rome and recounted fond memories of some of our Missionary Benedictine confreres.  He also shared some amusing stories about his band, Feedback, and their being asked to share the stage with the English rock band Deep Purple during a recent concert in Germany.  It makes us happy to hear that the Abbot Primate feels “at home” each time he visits our community!

Prior to his election to the office of Abbot Primate in 2000, Abbot Primate Notker served as Archabbot of St. Ottilien Archabbey in Germany, the grandmother house of our Missionary Benedictine congregation.  During the Congress of Abbots in Rome last month, the abbots of the world overwhelmingly re-elected Abbot Primate Notker to a second term of four years.  We wish him many blessings as he continues his ministry of service to Benedictines around the world!  Ad multos annos!
